Details about Last Seen on Whatsapp

Whatsapp has emerged to be one of the best Chat Messengers out there. It has even beaten BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) with its awesome interface. The best that I like about it is that it's available on many platforms including phones have Symbian S40 Nokia Operating Systems, which is less thought of, these days.

Recently in Whatsapp, a few changes were made & a few settings were altered. One of customizations in the pack as to disable your "Last Seen" feature on Whatsapp. Today I'd like to talk about a few principles governing that & modifying your Whatsapp using that setting, would affect your Whatsapp Texting Experience.

Note: 1. This analysis is in accordance with the current Latest Whatsapp Messenger only, maybe in future, they can change something.

2. Also, there could errors in the post too, please use your own experience too.

THE REAL DEAL

So, Whatsapp has the options to disable "Last Seen" now. Last Seen is actually a note that Whatsapp gives, while conversing with someone displayed as "Last Seen at 2:30 pm" to tell what the receiver's (of your message) latest access to whatsapp was, in a conversation.

Now, Whatsapp has given the option to disable this "Last Seen" feature on the device so that nobody knows when you accessed Whatsapp for the last time. That's really good for your personal privacy. I mean you don't wanna let anyone know that you've seen their message & not replied to it, in some cases.

But is that it? Does Un-checking "Last Seen" option on Whatsapp, mean this only? No, is the answer to these questions. Actually, currently, when you disable "Last Seen" on Whatsapp there are two consequences:

1. No-one can see when you came to Whatsapp last time, as wanted & expected.

2. This one is little stingy. When you disable "Last Seen" feature on Whatsapp, not only others can see you. But you cannot see anyone's Last Seen too, even if they've enabled it!

So when I disabled Last Seen on my Whatsapp Account for about a month, I thought all of my contacts were Smart enough to disable Last Seen. LOL!!!

All I wanna say is that Disable Last Seen works in both ways- Your Message receivers cannot see your "Last Seen" AND You can't see their Last Seen, even if they've enabled the Last Seen option, so that everyone can see when their last access to Whatsapp was, but you still won't be able to see their Last Seen because you've disabled it from your side.

In short, if you disable the Last Seen option on Whatsapp, not only everyone won't be able to see your Last Seen, but you also won't be able to see theirs, no matter they've enabled it or not. Now, as a final statement, let me tell you how to change the "Last Seen" setting on whatsapp, the more important stuff has already been done:

CHANGE LAST SEEN SETTING ON WHATSAPP

So in order to change the Last Seen setting on Whatsapp, Open Whatsapp, On the main Screen, choose More Options (It could be with a button on your device or on the Top-Right corner). Then "Settings" >> "Account" >> finally "Privacy".


Then clicking on "Last Seen" will yield 3 options:

Note: In all three settings, the rules mentioned under the "THE REAL DEAL" heading may apply.

1. Everyone: Here as earlier, everyone will be able to see your Last seen & you too will see theirs.
2. My contacts: Here, only your contacts will be able to see their Last seen & you'll watch theirs.
3. Nobody: Here No-one will see your Last Seen & you won't be able to see anyone's.

So That's all I wanted to share about Whatsapp's Last seen.
